Out in the Open, On the Air and Online

TAMPA—John Chambrone is a busy man. Between writing
for the Gazette, working at the Tampa Metro Center and
producing Out in the Open, the gay radio program on WMNF
88.5 FM, it was hard to schedule an interview. Oh, and I forgot
to mention that he also has a “day job,” working with developmentally
disabled adults. How does he do it all and why does he
do it? I sat down with him to find out what makes him tick.
Copyright Law
Who owns the copyright to your material? You do, the very instant you type it on a page or write it down or paint it or however you express yourself. And you keep that copyright and the power to post, republish and resell your materials unless you specifically give them away. Even when you are creating for a magazine, newspaper or documentary, sometimes considered “Works Made for Hire” you retain the rights to your work unless there is a written agreement explicitly saying the commissioned work is for hire.
